Suggestions: What happened in the nanonovel? What did you take certain things to mean, how did you interpret them? Was there a lead-up to the novel, or some things that occurred after the novel? If so, what were the rest of the events you envisioned? How did they shape what you took away from the story? Just about anything you can think of, I want to hear it.
Don’t hesitate to go above and beyond these starter questions, and go into as much depth as you can. And if you get the chance, I’d love to see your 2nd and 3rd interpretations of the nanonovel. Read and interpret it as many times as you’d like!
Two kids who had read too many detective novels were hot on the trail of the Mystery of the Janitor’s Keys. They were sneaking around their school at night, following in the footsteps of their heroes Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, but they’d just heard the sound of the janitor wheeling his giant trash can on its squeaky wheels down the hall. He had grabbed her hand and pulled her into the classroom to avoid getting caught, and now they were scrunched up together behind the teacher’s desk, not daring to make a sound. Her breath burned against his neck in the blackness of the tiny room. His body gave an excited shudder as he became aware of her closeness, and he gulped in the dark.
