Opinions Column/Blog

In January 2008, I began writing a weekly opinion column for my university newspaper. In addition, the newspaper’s website runs an opinions blog open for other various postings by the opinions staff. For personal and technological reasons, I chose to publish full-text versions of my columns and blog posts here in addition to my other creative works.

I re-applied for my position for the coming fall semester beginning August 2008, and have recently been informed that I will retain my spot in the weekly line-up of columnists. As before, I will post all columns and blog posts here for both archiving and hopefully widespread readership. I generally try to keep the five most recent columns/posts listed chronologically below. Eventually, I may add a “top five” list of my personal favorites in addition to the list of most recent pieces.

Comments and constructive criticisms are always appreciated. Columns are archived under the categories Drawing Coffee Column, Newspaper Column, Newspaper Blog, Opinion, and Published. For more precise browsing, I’ve also taken the liberty of organizing all columns by semester (Spring, Summer, and Fall 2008) and month (January, February, March, April, May, June, August, September, October, and November 2008).

Recent columns include:

Palin’s plotting (November 6, 2008)

Election won’t end prejudice (October 30, 2008)

Is your third-party vote a waste? (October 23, 2008)

Beware the dangers of credit hour overload (October 16, 2008)

Shepard’s death still haunts U.S. (October 9, 2008)
